If you read the news across the state of Florida, you begin to realize how often boating accidents occur. Just Google “boating accident Miami” or ‘boat accident Tampa” and you’ll find too many stories about people being involved in recreational boating mishaps.
Often, these mishaps turn deadly. In Clearwater in Nov. 2012 an elderly woman fell from her boat while fishing and died. Recently in Miami, another woman died after sustaining injuries as the boat she was riding in pinned her against a bridge piling.
Though accidents do occur – and will always occur – it is the responsibility of the passenger and the boat owner to take precautionary measures against the possibility of accidents. This is especially important for the boat owner as he or she may be liable in the case of an accident or injury.
