CNN Shows Royal Caribbean’s Last Ship Leaving Havana After Ban

With the new Cuba travel restrictions imposed by the Trump administration, visitors planning on a getaway to the Caribbean island will have a much harder time.

“The Trump administration is ending a nearly 2-decade-old program that had become the most popular way for Americans to legally visit Cuba, banning all trips by cruise ships and other recreational vessels in the process.

The changes are intended to further squeeze the Cuban economy while keeping U.S. dollars “out of the hands” of the communist government. It goes into effect June 5,” reports NPR.org.

Cruise lines impacted include Norwegian Cruises, Royal Caribbean and Carnival. Over 800,000 passenger bookings are also impacted according to Cruise Lines International. Over 140,000 cruise ship passengers have already visited Cuba in 2019 prior to the ban.
