Our law firm recently filed a lawsuit on behalf of a client. The lawsuit against Carnival Cruise line alleges injuries were suffered after our client tripped on frayed carpet while vacationing aboard the Carnival Imagination.
Lawsuits of this nature — slips and fall accidents — occur with frequency. Passengers trip over old and worn carpeting, luggage or food trays left in hallways or various other items left underfoot in restaurants, dance clubs and other rooms within the ship.
It’s also not unusual for passengers to fall because of loose handrails on stairs, poor lighting in hallways or stairwells or on any number of wet surface areas
This specific lawsuit was reported in the Florida Record on Nov. 29, 2016 — Carnival Passenger Claims He Was Injured Because of Ship’s Frayed Carpet
Per the lawsuit…
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 16, 2015, he sustained physical injuries from tripping on a frayed carpeted floor while traveling on the defendant’s ship Imagination. The plaintiff holds Carnival Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly warn the plaintiff regarding the hazardous condition and for allowing the condition to exist.
The plaintiff seeks damages, compensatory damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Andrew L. Waks of Waks & Barnett PA in Miami.
Were You Hurt in a Cruise Ship Accident and Need Help Getting Compensation for Your Injuries?
Accident and injuries caused by negligence are relatively common aboard Carnival Cruise ships. While unfortunate, the reality is that with so many people traveling on cruise ships each year, accidents do happen. Sometimes they are “just accidents” and sometimes, negligent actions by the cruise line, the crew or others play a role in the accident.
When a passenger feels that the actions (or inaction) of the cruise line contributed to their injury, that’s when they begin searching for help from a cruise ship injury lawyer.
It’s important to know that, if you were injured on a cruise, you do have legal rights and opportunities to file complaints against the cruise line.
At Waks and Barnett, P.A., our lawyers fight the cruise lines, their legal department and the insurance adjusters to help you and your family receive fair compensation for your injuries, your medical bills and your wages for lost time at work.
