Per Local 12 News in Miami, Ohio “a Finneytown family says they are lucky their son is alive. The 8-year-old collapsed during cardiac arrest on a family vacation. The problem was they were on a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean. The good news is Noah Anderson is doing well. He’s awake, talking and eating at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami. Unhooked from the IVs and oxygen, he has a long road to recovery ahead.”
Noah’s parents found him crumpled at the bottom of a staircase while coming back aboard the cruise ship, a Norwegian vessel. After CPR was administered by his parents, Noah was taken to the ship’s medical deck and doctors took over from there. The captain of the boat returned to the Bahamas where Noah was taken to a hospital there.
Born with a condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, Noah will face surgery to implant a defibrillator, but should recover well from the procedure.
