The Houston Chronicle newspaper reports that the Carnival Liberty returned to its port in Galveston on Monday (June 13, 2016) after a child who was injured needed medical attention.
Generally, when a cruise ship returns to port because a passenger was injured, it means that 1) the boat was relatively close to port or 2) the injury was so severe that the passenger needed more medical attention than could be given on the ship.
The report say the passenger was a ‘small child’ who suffered a jaw injury ans was taken to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. The cruise ship then returned to its voyage.
