Royal Caribbean Bans Selfie Taking Passenger For Life

A cruise ship passenger traveling on Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas has been banned for life by the cruise line after images and video surfaced of the women taking a “selfie” emerged.

Apparently the woman climbed over a balcony railing to take a picture of herself. Dressed in a swimsuit and in a precarious position high above the ocean below, another passenger snapped a photo of her.

The man who took the picture also reported the incident to guest services.

After the cruise line became aware of the situation and confirmed the identity of the woman, the “selfie” passenger was removed from the cruise ship.

As pointed out by Fox News, Royal Caribbean’s guest conduct policy, passengers are forbidden from “sitting, standing, laying or climbing on, over or across any exterior or interior railings or other protective barriers, or tampering with ship’s equipment, facilities or systems” for their own safety.

Failure to comply may result in intervention by ship security, law enforcement and, ultimately, removal from the ship at the next port of call.

A spokesperson for Royal Caribbean confirmed the incident to Fox News on Thursday, and offered the following statement on the story:

“Earlier this week on the Allure of the Seas a guest was observed recklessly and dangerously posing for a photo by standing on her stateroom balcony railing with the help of her companion,” Jonathon Fishman, manager of corporate reputation, said. “Security was notified and the guests were later debarked in Falmouth, Jamaica, as a result of their actions and are now banned for life from sailing with Royal Caribbean.”
