The number of fatalities after Monday’s collision between two sightseeing floatplanes is now at six. As of yesterday (Tuesday May 14) four passengers and a pilot were listed among the deceased. The number is now as six as the remains of two more people were found. Initial reports had only one person missing.
At least 10 were injured, 4 in serious condition.
The identities of those who died or were injured have not been release, but it’s believed that all of the passengers on the planes were also cruise ship passengers who had been traveling on the Princess Cruises Royal Princess. The passengers had booked sightseeing tours, one with Taquan Air (booked through Princess Cruises) and through another, independent operator.
Sightseeing from floatplanes in the Ketchikan, Alaska area is a popular excursion for those visiting the area on cruise ships.
