Fire Breaks Out on Russian Cruise Ship

A article from Business Insider and other media outlets report that a Russian cruise ship – the Pyotr Tchaikovsky – caught fire in St. Petersburg, killing one person.

More than 300 passengers and crew were evacuated from the ship.

The incident happened on August 22, around 05:30 a.m. local time. Reports say the fire was extinguished in less than and hour

The Pyotr Tchaikovsky was operated by Russian company Doninturflot.

Reports say the fire likely started in the boat’s engine room. It’s also where the fatality occurred. Initial reports were unclear as to whether the fatality was that of a passenger or crewmember.
