It seems to be happening with increasing frequency — passengers going overboard from cruise ships.

This time, a woman on the Norwegian cruise ship Pearl, went overboard during a dance party cruise to Mexico.

CNN reports (from a Friday morning, Nov. 13 article)

“A search is underway in the waters off Cuba after a woman went overboard during a cruise ship dance party.

The U.S. Coast Guard says the unidentified woman was reported missing Thursday night by the crew of the Norwegian Pearl. The Coast Guard says it was told the woman fell from the deck of the ship, 22 miles off the coast of Cuba. The cruise ship company said it wasn’t an accident.”

A Norwegian spokesperson was quoted as saying the passenger was “observed going overboard intentionally – and it did not seem to be an accident.”

The CNN article states that 3 rescue boats were deployed from the Norwegian Pearl and calls to the U.S. Coast Guard were made. Coast Guard vessels were searching for the passenger late last night and this morning. The incident occurred 22 miles off of the Cuban coast.
