Sick Passenger Airlifted from Carnival Fascination by US Coast Guard

Yesterday, August 10, the U.S. Coast Guard was able to rescue and transport a sick passenger from a Carnival Cruise Ship. Per a local Miami News Report, Coast Guard officials learned Sunday morning that a 26-year-old man cruising on Carnival Fascination began suffering symptoms of appendicitis.

This happened roughly 32 nautical miles east of Lake Worth, Florida. Fortunately, the Coast Guard was able to intervene and take the passenger to safety. Incidents like this (transporting sick or medically impaired passengers off or cruise ships) are relatively common. With millions of passengers enjoying cruise vacations each year, accidents and medical emergencies are bound to happen.
