First Cruise of Summer comes with more baggage than passengers may know!
KomoNews.com and and other Seattle area media are hailing the arrival of the Norwegian Sun as the “First Cruise Ship of Summer.”
Enthusiasm apparently is high as the port of Seattle and passengers alike are ready for cruising, ready for summer to begin.
But a quick internet search would reveal the Norwegian Sun recently disappointed thousands of passers because of “at sea” renovations to the ship.
Norwegian Cruise Line decided that it made sense for them to inconvenience passengers — and potentially subject them to harm — by ‘okaying’ major renovations to the boat as it sailed from Miami to Los Angeles a few weeks ago (March 16 – March 31).
We wonder if passenger who are booked on trips on the Sun leaving from Seattle would have concerns about the ship they’re about to board?
Renovations left passengers frustrated, angry and inconvenienced. In fact, many passengers have banded together to share stories and images related to their cruise, perhaps hoping for some sort of recompense from Norwegian. A Facebook Group, Panama Canal Sun, was set up so passengers could interact. Many news outlets have even reached out the group to cover the story.
A description of the group reads, This is an information sharing group for anyone who has pictures taken while onboard the NCL Sun. We sailed from Miami on March 16, 2018. Construction onboard the ship began almost immediately. We will be using this group as a means to stay in touch with each other and to share information.
The Miami Herald reported “passengers reported having trouble breathing, coughing and experiencing headaches due to the chemical fumes…and the sounds of jackhammers pierced cabin walls, decks were inaccessible and sewer lines broke, filling entire cabins with the odor of feces and urine.”
